Renesas Technology Establishes New Company to Outsource IT Infrastructure


− Strengthening its management system to accelerate “resource selection and concentration” initiatives −

Tokyo, December 14, 2005 −− Renesas Technology Corp. today announced that it has decided to comprehensively outsource its IT applications maintenance and to establish a new joint company with Accenture, Hitachi, Ltd., and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, which will provide outsourcing services to Renesas.

Since its establishment in 2003, Renesas has been working with Accenture, Hitachi and Mitsubishi to unify and integrate its IT systems, which Hitachi and Mitsubishi operated separately. In January 2006, a fully-integrated system will be activated and is expected to provide a more efficient and competitive IT function for Renesas' semiconductor business.

Renesas will utilize the new company's IT systems to improve efficiency of services ranging from planning to management in manufacturing, procurement and logistics at each of sales offices and manufacturing and production facilities both in and outside of Japan. Accenture will provide the overall support to the new company with its depth of knowledge in IT system construction, project management and system development support. Additionally, Accenture will utilize the system construction knowledge at Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric to further facilitate the business activities of the new company.

The new company will carry out the development, operation and maintenance of IT systems for Renesas' semiconductor business, which is considered the best in Japan. New company employees are expected to substantially improve their expertise in the IT field by acquiring specialized knowledge in system development and participating in various training programs provided by Accenture.

By establishing the new company as part of its growth strategy, Renesas aims to achieve further business expansion with industry-leading efficiency for IT-based operating systems in business infrastructure and to pursue the ITDM business model by the system solution business based on the world's No.1 microcontroller as a core.
